Major parties

Due to the UK's proportional representation system, no two parties have dominated politics in the House of Commons consistently. Almost all parties operate throughout the entirety of the UK. Most of the Members of the Scotland Parliament and the National Assembly for Wales represent one of these parties:

Party Descriptions

Party Description
Conservative and Unionist Party The Conservative and Unionist Party, otherwise known as the Conservative Party, is a broad church party that consists of members who agree on fiscal conservatism and on preserving the territorial integrity of the United Kingdom. The party is predominantly eurosceptic and support Britain's exit from the EU.
Labour Party The Labour Party are a social democratic political party in the United Kingdom. The party recognises the need for government intervention in the markets and regulating the economy to meet the populations and country's interest, while keeping in respect the businesses and corporations across the nation.
Liberal Democrats The Liberal Democrats are a social liberal political party in the United Kingdom. The party adopts the idea of Social liberal and personal liberalism, while also recognising the importance of the European Union.
Classical Liberals The Classical Liberals are a classical liberal and a centre-centre-right political party in the United Kingdom. The party believes in personal and economic liberalism and rejects fascism entirely.
Green Party The Green Party are a ecologist political party in the United Kingdom. The party strongly believes in ecological responsibility and protecting the environment above all priorities. The party also recognises the idea of regionalism and social liberalism, with their support for Scottish independence and devolution.
National Unionist Party The National Unionist Party are a socially conservative political party in the United Kingdom. The party has strong beliefs in social responsibility, traditionalism, Social Christianity and Monarchism. The Party is described as Distributist economically, rejecting both left and right economic theories, preferring home brands and local produce over international brands. The Party is predominantly in favour of the British exit from the European Union.
Plaid Cymru Plaid Cymru are a Welsh Nationalist party in the United Kingdom. The party aims to see an independent Wales and seeks to represent specific issues to Wales in the model House of Commons.
Sinn Fein Sinn Fein are a republican party representing Northern Ireland.
